India: Ambulance Workers Come-up with Series of Demands


Madurai: The 108 Ambulance Workers Union has urged GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute, which manages the ambulance service, to implement 8 hour duty schedule for them. At the second state level conference in Madurai held on March 06 the workers come up with a series of complaints. More than 200 workers including drivers and emergency medical technicians from across the state took part in the conference.

India: Funds Allotted for 100 New CATS Ambulances


Delhi: The Delhi government announced its plan to purchase another 100 ambulances this financial year, increasing its total fleet of CATS ambulances to 251. This comes after more than 100 basic life support ambulances were purchased by the government last year, with the help of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Despite the promise, it seems, over the past few years the government has considerably brought down its target for number of ambulances. In 2007, CATS told the Delhi High Court that it would increase its ambulance fleet to 450 by 2008.

India: Soon, Road Crash Victims Won't Have to Pay Before Treatment


New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and ICICI Lombard have initiated a pilot project to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims. The pilot project will begin on the Gurgaon-Jaipur highway. After the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with ICICI Lombard, transport minister CP Joshi said, “The first hour after the accident is very critical. Money and volunteers to take the victim to hospital become the two very critical issues. It is here that the ICICI Lombard will chip in. They will provide evacuation as well as cover treatment cost in the first 48 hours of the accident.”

India: National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Ambulances Flagged Off


Imphal: Thirteen ambulances for National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) were flagged off in the first phase today by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing. Out of 20 ambulances sanctioned for the valley districts, 13 were flagged off on March 26 at a function organised by the State Health Society at MFDC complex here. The 40 ambulances sanctioned for the State comprise of 20 Boleros for use in hill districts and 20 vans for valley districts.

India: Gannavaram Airport Gets Emergency-cum-First Aid Centre Facility


Vijayawada: The Gannavaram Airport that serves the city is now one of the few select ones that have an emergency-cum-first aid centre with Automatic External Defibrillator, with the formal inauguration of such a facility on the terminal building premises on, March 24, Sunday. The Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Registrar S. Babu Lal while inaugurating the First Aid Centre equipped with a tele-medicine facility put up by Dr. Ramesh Hospitals, said that this facility will come in handy for patients suffering heart attacks and with passenger traffic increasing this becomes essential.
