	India: Trauma Care Units Soon in Suburbs Across State of Tamil Nadu
	Chennai: When someone in a far-flung suburb like Vandalur has a serious heart ailment, chances are the ambulance will take them straight to either the Government General Hospital near Central Station or Government Royapettah Hospital, both of which are easily 30 odd kilometres away. To save time and lives, the state along with GVK-EMRI (that operates the 108 ambulance service) has launched an Emergency Care Centre at the Chrompet GH, on August 5 Monday. This will be first among pilot trauma centres that will soon be set up at the outskirts of cities and towns across the state.

	India: Delhi Police Personnel to be Trained in Cardiac First Aid
	New Delhi: In a new initiative, the Delhi police will now train its men posted in South Delhi district in 'Cardiac first aid'. "Every policeman will be taught 10 CPR techniques and also other first aid methods, which are required to be learnt by these police personnel as mostly they are the first responders in case of any emergency," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) BS Jaiswal. The training will be conducted in association with Heart Care Foundation of India. Sessions would be conducted by Dr BC Roy, the president of Heart Care Foundation of India and Dr KK Aggarwal. 	India: State's Emergency Medical Services to be Manned by Ayurvedic Doctors
	Mumbai: The state's dream emergency medical services project, a fleet of 937 state-of-the-art ambulances, will be manned exclusively by ayurvedic practitioners and not paramedics. The state has defended the move, saying that having qualified doctors on board will make the services better.The Rs 1,000 crore project, which was conceptualised after the serial train blasts in 2006, will be implemented this November. The ayurvedic doctors will undergo a 15-day extensive training programme to operate the equipments such as ECG machines that will be present in the ambulances. 	India: Training Course in Emergency Medicine at Pune Hospital
	Pune: Though the Medical Council of India (MCI) had made emergency medicine a specialty in 2009, the country needs at least 10,000 emergency specialists. This was revealed by Dr Pravin Aggarwal, head of the department of emergency medicine in AIIMS, New Delhi, on August 8 Thursday. Addressing a press meet to announce the launch of full-time training programme in emergency medicine at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, from September 1, he said currently 19 medical colleges in the country produce 37 emergency specialists. 	It is unfortunate that Uttarakhand had to face landslides and flash floods yet again this week, hampering relief operations.
