India: AIIMS Trauma Centre Gets the Nod


AIIMS will now be able to better serve the humungous crowd of patients with a self-sufficient expanded trauma centre as the DDA in its Board meeting headed by the Lieutenant-Governor on August 21 approved its request and allotted 6.8 hectares of land adjacent to the existing trauma centre.\r\nFollowing this, an inspection team comprising senior officers of the planning department visited the site and found that 656 trees cover the area of which 515 are kikar or Acacia trees.

India: Ambulance Service Launched in Thiruvananthapuram


Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on September 17 launched two ambulances in the city to help render speedy assistance to accident victims. Mr. Chennithala flagged off the ambulances at a function held at the City Police Commissioner’s office.\r\nThe ambulances, one from the existing fleet of the city police and another that has been newly procured, would be a supplement to the ‘108’ ambulance service.\r\nHowever, the newly inducted service would be confined to the city limits, said a police officer.

India: Mumbai-Pune Expressway to Finally Get New Trauma Centre


If all goes according to plan, the Mumbai-Pune expressway could finally have an operational trauma care centre within two months. With the construction of the facility close to completion now, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from firms with the expertise and experience necessary to run such a service.

India: Police Launching New Ambulance


Thiruvanathapuram: Offering a helping hand to bike riders who meet with accidents in city limits, the City Police are gearing up to provide an ambulance service. According to the City Police Chief H Venkatesh, the discussions regarding the new ambulance service are in the last phase and the service will start soon.\r\n“The time taken by ambulances to reach the accident spots is the reason behind launching the new initiative. We have submitted the proposal for the ambulance and the final decision will be taken within 2 days,” said the Commissioner.

India: Training of Trainers on ¡®Disaster Safe Hill Area Development¡¯


Kohima: For the first time in Nagaland, a Training of Trainers (TOT) program on “Disaster Safe Hill Area Development” was held at Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima from September 8 to 12. Twenty seven officers from different departments, including Nagaland University and Administration attended the training.
