Korea (South): South Korea Uses Video Collaboration Tools for Disaster Management
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South Korea, has deployed video collaboration solutions to improve communication and collaboration among its teams throughout the country. NEMA, the first independent disaster management government authority in South Korea, has emergency response teams in 17 cities and provinces in the country. The video solutions deployed by the agency will allow these teams to talk and share content through video sessions. The system allows any number of teams to join the video call, accelerating decision-making and information sharing during crises.

Korea (South): Seoul to Get Its Own Tourist Police who will also Provide Emergency Service
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will introduce a tourist police force to fight crime against and cheating of foreign visitors. A city official on July 04 Thursday said the new squad will seek to solve inconveniences that foreign tourists face in the city. "We're discussing it with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Police Agency and other related agencies." The city is benchmarking Thailand and Malaysia, which already have tourist police units who deal with accidents involving foreign visitors, mediate in payment disputes, and provide information as well as emergency medical services.

Korea (South): Longtime Firefighter the Face of First Aid in Sherman
A first responder since 1961, he's pretty comfortable in an ambulance, too. "It's really a group effort. Hoping to advance his skills in emergency services, Crane became one of the first firefighters in Sherman to become an advanced emergency medical technician. He has retained his critical care status ever since. "I think it's important to keep up-to-d

Korea (South): Gov't Unveils Reform Plan of Emergency Rescue System
Seoul: The government unveiled a package of measures on May 28 Wednesday for improving its emergency response system to better cope with national disasters following last month's ferry sinking that claimed the lives of nearly 300 people. The measures, among other things, call for empowering fire station chiefs to command emergency rescue operations, giving safety inspection official’s special judicial powers and creating a national safety agency. The package is a follow-up to President Park Geun-hye's decision last week to reorganize the government to better deal with future disaster situations.
