	India: 'Move to Withdraw Ambulances with Advanced Life Support'
	Thiruvananthapuram: The alleged move to withdraw the ‘108’ ambulances with advanced life support has triggered a controversy, with the Opposition alleging that the step was to help private ambulance operators. However, the government clarified that the ‘108’ ambulances with advanced life support would not be withdrawn. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan alleged that the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Ltd (KMSCL) had invited tenders for extending the service of 108 ambulances that had only base life support system and avoided those with advanced life support.

	India: Cops Get Training to Handle Road Accident Victims in Maharashtra
	Thane: In a move to provide immediate treatment to accident victims, a first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training was organized for Thane police officials on June 04. The cops were given first-hand information about first aid and other life-saving techniques. The aim of this event was to train the cops, who are the first to reach an accident spot, to provide on-the-spot treatment to trauma victims. The cops were given training in different types of medicine and dressing material used for victims.

	India: NFR Comprehensive Disaster Management Plan
	Guwahati: The Rangiya division of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has drawn up a comprehensive disaster management plan to deal with any emergency. The ‘Disaster Management Plan 2014’ prepared by the Rangiya division, which encompasses most of Lower Assam, is aimed at formulating a “continuous and integrated process of planning, organising, coordinating and implementing measures which are necessary or expedient for promoting a culture of prevention and preparedness by ensuring that disaster management receives the highest priority at all levels”, said NFR PRO Nripen Bhattacharya.

	Kochi: As the monsoon continues to grow muscle, the Vypeen Fisheries Station has put up a proposal for a sea ambulance-cum-rescue boat to meet the challenges posed by an unusually rough sea. The need for its own ambulance, equipped to handle emergencies, has been highlighted by 2 recent accidents involving fishing vessels in Fort Kochi. Both the accidents involved traditional fishing boats, which ran into sand bars off Fort Kochi where beach formation has been rapid.

	India: Sirens on Emergency Vehicles can��t be Used for 8 Hrs a Day
	Mumbai: Emergency-related vehicles, such as fire brigade and ambulances, and cars with sirens and multi-tone horns, will now have to operate silently between 10 pm and 6 am, according to a notification issued by the Maharashtra government on June 07. Worli resident and senior citizen Dileep B Nevatia had alleged that vehicle owners and drivers frequently violated the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
