Korea (South): Korean Fire Stations to get Advanced Ambulances


The government will place at least one ambulance with advanced equipment at each fire station in the country to provide quicker treatment for emergency patients, officials said on Tuesday (January 12).\r\nThe Ministry of Public Safety and Security said it would provide special ambulances that are equipped with 12 emergency medical devices to 205 fire stations. In these ambulances, medical staff will be able to conduct emergency treatments, such as intubation or heart-stimulating drug injections, which are difficult to carry out in general ambulances.

Korea (South): Emergency Ambulances Designated for Heat waves now Equipped with Ice Vests


Seoul: The Ministry of Public Safety and Security’s Central Fire Service has designated 1,317 ambulances across Korea specifically for use during heat waves, according to a report released on Sunday (June 12).\r\nThese ‘heat wave ambulances’ will have nine different first aid kits, including ice vests, saline solution, intravenous injection set, and oral electrolyte solution. In order to prepare for emergency situations where none of the special ambulances are available, 1,105 pumper trucks across the nation will also be equipped with heat wave first aid kits.

Korea (South): Korean Hospital Tends to Injured U.S. Soldiers in Mock Drill tested preparedness of Emergency Responders


Suwon:A mock treatment drill on August 30 at Ajou University Hospital in Suwon, just south of Seoul, tested the preparedness of staff and emergency responders should U.S. soldiers be injured by a North Korean attack.\r\nStaff of the hospital\'s emergency room carried six injured U.S. soldiers on carts to its center for serious external injuries after a UH-60M Black Hawk utility helicopter evacuated them to the hospital\'s heliport. The 2-day drill was conducted as part of a South Korea-U.S. joint military exercise.

Korea (South): Military to Offer Emergency Relief, First Aid during Chuseok Holidays


Seoul: The military will be on hand to offer emergency rescue and medical services during the upcoming Chuseok holidays, the defence ministry said Friday (September 09). The ministry said 3,540 troops and 620 ambulances and helicopters will be on call at 260 military units nationwide. Separately, first aid support centers will be set up at 18 military hospitals in the country.\r\nChuseok is one of Korea\'s largest traditional holidays during which millions of South Koreans will head to their hometowns. The full-moon festival day falls on this coming Thursday (15TH Sep), but most people will get time off from Wednesday through next Sunday.

Korea (South): Korea Adopts Rescue Drone System for Its Mountains and Forests


Korea has introduced a new system that uses drones to find and rescue people who have lost their way in the mountains.\r\nAfter receiving an emergency call, a drone scans the forest and flies over to the target area. There, the drone looks for biological signals using its infrared imaging system. Once the missing person is spotted, the drone sends down an emergency kit and delivers their exact location to a rescue team on the ground.
