India: Emergency Medical Service Will Soon be Just a Call Away - Pune
Pune: Do you panic when someone in your family falls ill and you need to take him or her to hospital? Soon you will not have to worry. In order to handle such situations, the State Health Department has kick-started a process to launch an Emergency Medical and Referral Services (EMS). Its toll free number 108 will soon be launched at its call centre, which is being set up at Aundh District Hospital in Pune. A call from any part of the state will be routed through this centre and an ambulance will be dispatched immediately to pick up patients at the earliest and rush them to the nearest hospital.

Gurgaon: In a unique initiative to bring down accident fatalities on National Highway-8 and provide immediate medical attention to victims, the Ministry of Surface Transport (MoST) in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), state health departments of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan and private sector insurance firms is going to launch a pilot project. Chandigarh: Around 70-80 per cent of cardiac arrest patients from the tri-city reach the hospital for medical help after the passage of the critical golden hour (60 minutes after the heart attack), risking the life of the patient. India: Plan to Procure 100 Advanced Ambulances in Tamil Nadu
Chennai: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa told the Assembly, on April 23, Tuesday that the government would procure 100 advanced life support ambulances for providing immediate medical assistance to accident victims. Informing that 16,175 persons died in 15,072 fatal road accidents reported in 2012, she said stationing ambulances on highways would help in reaching out to accident victims in short time and shifting them to nearby hospitals. India: Maharashtra Gov. to Invoke MESMA If Strike Continues
Mumbai: The state government has said it will invoke the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) if striking resident doctors do not resume work by April 25 Thursday morning. Medical education minister Dr Vijaykumar Gavit announced this, on April 23, Tuesday after doctors refused to accept the government’s offer of increasing their monthly stipend by Rs. 5,000 and decreasing tuition fees.
