Sri Lanka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Opens Hospital Built with Indian Funds in Sri Lanka\'s Hill Country


The 3-story hospital building comprises a 150-bed ward complex, Medical Equipment Unit, Out Patient Department, Specialist Center, Intensive Care Unit, Maternity Ward, Emergency Treatment Unit, Labour Room and two Operation Theatres.\r\nAdditionally, a Blood Bank, Fire Fighting Equipment and two official residential buildings complex and other facilities required for a Base Hospital included.

Sri Lanka: Access to National Hospital¡¯s Emergency Ward in need of a bypass?


The Colombo National Hospital is facing a situation where ambulances carrying emergency patients are having trouble entering the hospital. Why? – Because there are a large number of 3- wheelers parked along the entry road to the hospital.\r\nAccording to Hospital Director Dr Anil Jasinghe, the 3-wheelers parked in the Norris Canal area are blocking the Emergency Ward as well as the Neuro Coma unit.

Sri Lanka: Airbus and Benz to Provide Free Air/Land Ambulance Service


Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said yesterday two world-renowned German companies, the Airbus and Benz have pledged to invest in an air and land ambulance service which would include 24 helicopters.\r\nThe ministry said the assurance was given to the minister during discussion with representatives of the 2 companies and officials of the German Government during his visit to that country. \"The free ambulance package includes 24 helicopters, 1,050 ambulances and 240 breakdown vehicles. The Benz Company will invest in the ambulances and breakdown vehicles while 24 helicopters will be provided by the Air Bus Company,\" it said in a statement.

Sri Lanka: India-backed Ambulance Service to be Expanded Countrywide Soon


Colombo: Under phase I India provided a grant for the deployment of 88 ambulances in Western and Southern provinces.\r\nThe government plans to expand Sri Lanka’s pioneering pre-hospital care emergency response ambulance service, Suwasariya, launched with Indian financial backing a year ago. Government sources told The Island that the free ambulance services now operating in Western and Southern Provinces would be soon expanded to the remaining provinces under the second phase of the project.
