Philippines: P14.7M New-bornCare Equipment Now in Iloilo


THE P14.7-million basic emergency obstetrics and new-born care (BEMONC) equipment from Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) has arrived. The new set of medical equipment is intended for the rural health units of Alimodian, Leon, San Miguel, Calinog, Bingawan, Balasan, Batad, Estancia and Carles, said Governor Arthur Defensor Sr.

Philippines: Mock Car Wreck Teaches Youths about EMT Procedures


In perhaps one of the strangest-looking T-bone wrecks ever seen, two damaged cars were placed in a small, empty parking lot on June afternoon near the West Lafayette High School athletic complex. A group of high school students watched as professional emergency responders pulled two volunteers from the cars and carried them on stretchers to an ambulance. The purpose was to give students a first-hand look at what it's like to be an emergency medical technician.

Philippines: Philippines House Approves Pre-Hospital Emergency Care


The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading a measure establishing a pre-hospital emergency medical care system. House Bill 4577, incorporating HB 402 and 1489 authored by Reps. Susan Yap of Tarlac and Lani Mercado-Revilla of Cavite, respectively, seeks to create a responsive and organized system to deal with cases during natural and man-made calamities. Pre-Hospital Emergency Care will be handled by trained and certified EMTs, usually in a mobile or community setting, in full accordance with the National Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Treatment Protocols established by the Council.

Philippines: WV Hospitals all set for the Rainy Season ? Staff Trained on BLS and ACLS


Iloilo City: With the rainy season already here, the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas said that DOH-retained hospitals are all set to respond to people’s health needs and to various emergency situations that may occur. Flor Lynn Gallardo, DOH-6 Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) Coordinator, said that personnel, logistics, medical supplies, facilities, and adequate measures are in place to manage emergency situations during the rainy season. She said that the hospital personnel have been adequately trained on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for the urgent treatment of cardiac

Philippines: Rescue 922 Trains Emergency Medical Volunteers


Cauayan City: The Cauayan City’s Rescue 922 has conducted a 6-day emergency medical responders training to rescue volunteers who have joined the city’s rescue unit.Rescue 922 head Ronald Viloria, said the training, which started June 23, aims to equip volunteers on hands-on medical response to save victims of natural or man-made calamities. Viloria said there are some15 volunteers who attended the training to learn the right medical rescue operations.
