	Beijing: The State Headquarters for Forest Fire Control on January 24 Friday issued a fourth-level emergency response plan to cope with the raging forest fires in the country's south and southwest regions. A total of 46 forest fires occurred in 5 provincial-level regions of China, including Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangdong Provinces, where lasting drought and high temperatures have left large amounts of flammable debris in forested areas. 	China: Longyan Airport Holds Drill to Improve Emergency Preparedness
	Liancheng county Public Security Bureau, firefighters, traffic police, armed police - and other emergency responders - recently took part in a joint drill at Guanzhishan Airport, focusing on simulations of a hijacking, handling explosive devices, fires and medical emergencies – with the aim of improving the airport’s ability to handle such emergencies. The drill focused on the response, decision-making and organization and coordination abilities of the airport - especially the information transmission efficiency of all units - with the aim of ensuring the safety of passengers.

	A 24-year-old man surnamed Zhao died from severe craniocerebral injury in March 2012; his parents sued the Beijing Red Cross Emergency Rescue Center (999) for preventing Zhao from receiving timely treatment. The couple sought compensation of about 900,000 Yuan ($148,490), the Legal Mirror reported. The rescue center said they had warned the family that Zhao's situation could deteriorate and was possibly life-threatening, but Zhao's family insisted on taking him home and refused to let him be transferred to the hospital. 	China: China Provides Emergency Assistance for Victims Attack on a Chinese Firm in Zambia
	Chinese Foreign Ministry and Chinese embassy in Zambia have launched emergency measures to provide assistance for victims following an attack on a Chinese firm in Zambia, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on February 14 Friday. One Chinese worker died and 6 others were injured when armed gunmen attacked a Chinese firm in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, embassy officials said on February 13.
