India: 125 Ventilators Give Delhi Government Hospitals Big Respite

New Delhi: Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain inaugurated 125 ventilators to be used in Lok Nayak, G B Pant, Deen Dayal Upadhyay and other big state-run hospitals on 10 March, nearly three months after TOI reported about the lack of these machines and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal took note of it.

India: Dial 112 for Emergency soon

Thiruvananthapuram:  State Police Chief Loknath Behera has said the nationwide emergency response system will soon be implemented in the State. With the mechanism being operationalised, the country will have a unique and single emergency response number ‘112’ for any emergency involving the police, fire force, and ambulance services.\r\n \r\nThe State Police Chief said calls made to the helpline from across the State would be attended at a centralised control room in Thiruvananthapuram, following which the information will be relayed to the station or agency concerned in quick time for action.

India: Disaster Management Poor in ¡°Disaster-Prone¡± Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram:  The Comptroller and Auditor General has criticised the functioning of disaster management system in Kerala, saying there are deficiencies in the functioning of ’emergency operating centres’ in the state. The CAG report for the year 2016 March, tabled in the recently concluded session of the Assembly, said the EOCs were not equipped to properly respond to a disaster in the state, which is vulnerable to various hazards due its geographical peculiarities and population density.

India: Rajasthan Govt Will Equip Highway Dhabas to Provide Medical Treatment to Accident Victims

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government will train roadside dhaba staff and ensure first aid medicines are available at national and state highways to help those injured in accidents receive timely treatment.\r\nRajasthan medical and health minister Rajendra Rathore said that they are identifying spots on highways where most mishaps occur and roadside dhaba staff will be given training for first aid so that they can help in saving lives. Initially, one national and one state highway will be selected or this cause.

India: Traffic Police Launch Ambulance Service of Amritsar

As many as 50 per cent lives can be saved in road accidents if victims are admitted to a hospital within one hour of the mishap.
