Pakistan: Public Hospitals will have Dedicated Emergency Dept


Lahore: All the public sector teaching hospitals of Punjab will have separate emergency services departments on the pattern of Turkish model.\r\nAs a pilot project, first such department would be established at the Mayo Hospital, the oldest and the biggest infirmary of Lahore, decided a meeting presided over by Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah at Civil Secretariat on 5 March.

Pakistan: Bilawal Launches Sindh People¡¯s Ambulance Service


Chairman of Pakistan People Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the Sindh government has realized the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto by launching state-of-art Sindh Peoples Ambulance service to improve health services in Thatta and Sujawal.\r\nThis he said while addressing the launching ceremony of Sindh Peoples Ambulance Service for Thatta and Sujawal here at the Banquet Hall of CM House on 18 March.

Pakistan: New Ambulance Service


The government of Punjab has decided to introduce a ‘motorbike ambulance service’ to reach out to emergency situations in crowded areas in all divisional headquarters of the province. This step deserves to be lauded.\r\nThe new ambulance service will have 900 motorbikes and 900 medical technicians will also been hired. Words always need to be followed by actions and it is hoped that this motorbike ambulance service is implemented in its true letter and spirit soon.

Pakistan: Legislation on Quick Response to Medical Emergencies Planned


Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has planned to enforce a law to ensure quick response to medical emergencies and prevent and control spread of diseases through surveillance to effectively deal with the current and emerging public health issues.\r\nThe proposed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Health Act being vetted by the law department before its presentation in the provincial assembly is meant to strengthen disease detection through a reporting system and to give quick response to medical emergencies.

Pakistan: Faisal Edhi to relaunch father¡¯s air ambulance service in Pakistan


Did any of you know that aside from having road ambulances, Abdul Sattar Edhi, the late philanthropist and humanitarian, had also started an air ambulance service?\r\nThe late Abdul Sattar Edhi did have air ambulances but the service was discontinued in the late 80s. Now Faisal Edhi, his son and the current head of the foundation, is restarting this service in the country to be able to help people in remote regions who need faster access to healthcare services in the case of emergencies and catastrophes.
