	Pakistan: Maternal, Child Health Care: Two Neonatal Emergency Centres to Open Soon
	Karachi: To lessen the burden on National Institute of Child Health (NICH), a neonatal emergency centre will be inaugurated at Sindh Government Hospital Korangi No 5 soon after Eid, announced health minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar.\r\nA similar facility will also be established at New Karachi Children Hospital, he added. The emergency centre in Korangi will be further enhanced to a well-equipped nursery for new-borns, who are less than 12 months old.

	Pakistan: No Funds to Back Emergency Response
	Islamabad: Federal authorities have not allocated any funds for the National Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Network (NHEPRN) to meet any health emergency during natural calamities, it has been learnt.\r\nCiting the monsoon contingency Plan for 2016, NHEPRN’s deputy director (operations) Dr Sabina Durrani told The Express Tribune that all provinces have to spend half of their funds for disaster preparedness while the remaining half has to be spent by the federal government as a back-up support for the provinces.

	Rawalpindi: The passing out ceremony of 217 rescuers from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab was held at Emergency Services Academy here on Monday (August 1).\r\nA special adviser to Chief Minister Punjab, Rana Maqbool Ahmad Ahmad Latif, Managing Director SNGPL were the chief guests while Dr Heli Uusikyla, Head of UN-OCHA Pakistan was the guest of honour.

	Pakistan: Electric Ambulance Service Launched at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar
	Peshawar: To facilitate shifting of patients from one ward to another, special electric ambulance service has been launched at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.\r\nTalking to The Nation, Public Relation Officer of Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, Zulfiqar informed that service was introduced by a non-governmental organization run by the senior doctors of the country. He said that Lady Reading Hospital consists of huge area and due to its uneven floors it is hard to run stretcher and wheel chairs.

	Pakistan: Accidents, Calamities: Youth Trained to Respond to Emergencies
	Peshawar: Not many people are aware of the steps that ought to be taken in the event of an emergency. To counter this, a 2-day emergency response training was conducted by the district administration on Tuesday (9 August) and Wednesday (10 August) to provide useful tips to the youth.\r\n“We do not have enough resources so we decided to mobilise the youth of the district,” AC Altaf Sheikh said on the closing day of the training. “It was for this purpose that we gathered in this hall so that youth could be educated on risk management, hazard assessment, vulnerability of the district and the capacities of human resources.&rdquo
