India: SIMS Hospital Launches 24x7 Stroke Clinic


Chennai: SIMS Hospital launched a round-the-clock emergency helpline to mark World Stroke Day. The number is connected to a dedicated ambulance service in 14 locations in the city. The emergency numbers are 044-20002020 and 9677715490. The hospital’s Institute of Neurosciences offers intravenous and intra-arterial thrombolysis therapy for strokes within a time frame of 4-5 hours after the onset of stroke.

India: Centre comes up with \'National Ambulance Code\' to Save Lives


New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, in collaboration with the Health Ministry, launched a notification for the National Ambulance Code which is applicable for all the ambulances across the country and existing ambulances shall have to be standardised by April 1, 2018. The code defines constructional and functional requirements for road ambulances.\r\nIn this, four variants of ambulances have been approved: Type A Road Ambulance: Medical First Responder; Type B Road Ambulance: Patient Transport Vehicles; Type C Road Ambulance: Basic Life Support Ambulance and Type D Road Ambulance: Advanced Life Support Ambulance.

India: Ambulance Service boosted by Additional 367 Ambulances


Bengaluru: The state government is all set to suspend 804 doctors for absenteeism from work. The decision comes after the doctors failed to report to work even after being served notices. At a press conference here on Thursday (October 27), Health and Family Welfare minister K R Ramesh Kumar announced that these doctors, who were appointed by the health department, have been suspended from work after they failed to report to duty.\r\nAmbulance services too will be further boosted in the state with purchase of 367 new ambulances. ‘Jan Aushadi’ fair price pharma stores will be opened in 200 hospitals all over the state, Ramesh Kumar

India: 108 Sirens Prove Life-Saving for City, Vidarbha


Nagpur: Notwithstanding its recent alleged misuse, in the two years since its launch on Republic Day in 2014, the 108 ambulance service has proved to be a success story not just in Nagpur but the whole of Vidarbha.\r\nIn Nagpur circle alone, 108 has served 1,20,664 patients between January 2014 and August 31 this year. The maximum utilization is for trauma or accident, followed by deliveries. So far, 1,036 deliveries have taken place in 108 ambulances in Nagpur circle and 1,252 in Akola circle. In Nagpur district, 43,010 patients have been served by 108.

India: Bali Bhagat Takes Stock of Emergency Services in Border Areas


Jammu: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat,on November 03, chaired a meeting to take stock of emergency services being provided by the Health department in the border areas.\r\nAddressing the meeting, the Minister directed the concerned CMOs to take adequate steps to improve emergency services and provide proper healthcare to the injured persons.
