Singapore: About 1,000 residents of Tampines Central attended the division's Emergency Preparedness Day, with some getting hands-on experience on what to do during an emergency. The area's MP, Heng Swee Keat, who is also education minister, said it is important for neighbours to come together to form cohesive networks. Singapore: When a heavily-pregnant woman suffers a cardiac arrest in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and is not responding to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a “Code Red” message sounds through the public announcement system, activating a team trained in performing resuscitation on pregnant women.Assigning a dedicated response code for such emergencies is a first in hospitals here. Singapore: Starter kits with N95 masks to be given to 1.2 million households


Singapore: A total of 1.2 million 'Stay Prepared' Starter Kits will be distributed by Singapore Power and Singapore Post to all households in Singapore from May 6 to 12. Each 'Stay Prepared' Starter Kit contains three 3M N95 face masks, instructions on how to wear the masks and emergency contact numbers. The initiative by Temasek Cares, the non-profit, philanthropic arm of Temasek Holdings, aims to encourage individuals and families to be prepared for emergencies.

Singapore: All Community Clubs to be Equipped with 2 Defibrillators each by Year's End


Singapore: All community centres and community clubs (CCs) here will each be equipped with two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) by the end of this year to be better prepared for emergencies. The People’s Association’s (PA) 1,500 staff working at the CCs have been trained to use the machines, which can save the lives of those suffering heart attacks. The initiative is part of the nationwide Community First Responder Programme, launched by Health Minister Gan Kim Yong at Chua Chu Kang constituency’s family day on May 25.

Singapore: Day and Night Polyclinics Could Ahorten A&E Wait


Singapore’s healthcare system is one of the best in the world, but waiting times at the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department in hospitals are still a sore point.A shorter wait for specialists and doctors would result in prompt diagnosis and treatment, and reduce unnecessary anxiety and frustration in patients and their families. If a few polyclinics were selected to operate as day and night clinics, it would lessen the load as patients could then be channelled to them.
