	India: Ambulance Brigade Enacts Rescue Drill to Check Preparedness
	St. John Ambulance Brigade of Southern Railway conducted a rescue drill as part of the valedictory function of its 3-day annual training camp here on Thursday (October 8).\r\nThe exercise was coordinated by its Assistant Commissioner G. Manikandan. Several wings of the Disaster Rescue and Relief Team displayed their state of preparedness to attend to emergencies. They enacted a drill wherein a bomb blast was reported in an air-conditioned railway coach. Immediately on receiving the information, the Disaster Rescue and Relief Team rushed to the spot.

	India: First-aid Training Given to Taxi and Auto Drivers
	Thiruvananthapuram: Thousands of taxi/auto drivers were imparted training in first aid as part of the ‘Save a Life’ campaign by MBBS students of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. 500 students of schools and colleges were also roped for the training programme started by the medical graduates who will pass out from the college, this November.\r\nThe ‘Save a life’ campaign that was launched on September 3 concluded here, on Monday (October 12).

	India: Researchers Discover First-aid for Defective Mucus
	Mucus found in our mouths, stomachs and eyes, forms a protective layer that prevents friction and keeps foreign bodies out. Mucins is the main components of mucus, which bind water molecules. But, if these mucins are damaged, they lose this ability. A group of researchers, led by Professor Oliver Lieleg at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), has now discovered a means to rebuild defective mucins.

	India: Public to Get Knowledge about CPR
	Jodhpur: The anaesthesia department of S N Medical College, Jodhpur and the Indian Society of Anaesthetists (ISA) organized \'anaesthesia week\' that started from Saturday (October 10). The aim is to spread awareness about CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) among the medical college staff and the general public.\r\n\"The objective is to train as many people as we can about this revival technique, which otherwise are lost due to lack of timely treatment\", said Principal Amilal Bhat.
