India: Training Begins for Emergency Handlers at Airport


Ahmedabad: A training programme to enhance the preparedness of handlers at the airport to respond to emergencies related to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) hazards began at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city on 14 May.\r\nThe training programme will enable the handlers to provide medical first aid and initial psycho-social support, said a statement from the city airport authorities.

India: Manipur to Soon Launch Air Ambulance Service


Manipur will soon launch an air ambulance service to reach out to the hill and rural areas that are difficult to access by roads, Health Minister L. Jayentakumar said on Wednesday.Governor Najma Heptulla said that she had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an air ambulance service for far-off villages with poor road connectivity, to which Modi readily agreed.

Agra: A day after the state government cleared a proposal to implement an advanced traffic management system on the 302-km-long Agra-Lucknow expressway, an RTI reply on Wednesday revealed that in the last nine months, 100 people have died in road accidents on this stretch.

India: Savitribai Phule Pune University Health Unit to provide 24-Hour Emergency Care


Pune: Faculty members and students at the Savitribai Phule Pune University can now hope for better services at the health centre on its campus.The facility is being upgraded, considering the recent incident of a student dying of heart attack and could not get emergency medical care on the campus. A special budget allocation is being set aside for equipping the centre to provide 24- hour emergency health care.

India: India¡¯s first Air Ambulance service launched in Hyderabad


Hyderabad: City-based Wings Aviation private Limited has introduced Air Ambulance Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), in the city, first of its kind in the country. The private air ambulance service conducted a mock drill at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally here on 26 May, to mark the launch.\r\nChairman of Wings Aviation, Y. Prabhakar Reddy, speaking to the media on the occasion, said that to begin with it has only one aircraft, but it will serve the two Telugu States and neighbouring States such as Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka as well, he said.
