China: China's First Water Base Medical Rescue Training Center Set Up in Haikou


Sanya: China’s first water base medical rescue training center was set up at Emergency Medical Center in Haikou on December 7, a major step to strengthen the nation’s water rescue capability as the risk of water-related incidents continues to grow. The Haikou Emergency Medical Center signed an agreement with Beijing Rescue Center and Hong KongSt. John Ambulance that formalizes their mutual collaboration of making the region more successful in carrying out water rescue missions. The training center has recruited 24 members, who are required to take part in the training activities.

China: Good Samaritans face Moral Dilemma in Helping Others


Beijing: Lu Xi, 32, an office clerk in Beijing, tried to explain to her 4-year-old daughter why sometimes it is not a good idea to extend a helping hand to an elderly person who falls over on the street. China: Emergency Response Questioned as Vaccine-Related Deaths Climb


Shenzhen: Seven children have now died in China since November following hepatitis B vaccination, raising questions of the effectiveness of the emergency response. China: Fire Razes Ancient Tibetan Town in China, 2000 Emergency Personnel Responded


Beijing: The blaze broke out at 1.27am in the ancient Tibetan quarter of Dukezong, which dates back more than 1,000 years and is known for its preserved cobbled streets, ancient structures and Tibetan culture. It is part of the scenic Shangri-La County in Deqen prefecture and had been renovated to lure tourists. There was no report of casualties, and the cause of the fire was unclear. A provincial news site said it started in a guesthouse. More than 2,000 emergency personnel and volunteers responded to the blaze and brought it under control around 11am, the Shangri-La county government said.

China: Emergency Response Launched to Combat Hunan Forest Fires


A forest fire that raged over 26 hours has been brought under control in China's Hunan province. It has made some sixty families homeless, but no casualties have been reported.The fire started January23 Thursday afternoon in an autonomous county. Most of the population are ethnic groups, and the wooden structure of their traditional houses caught fire easily, increasing the challenge for fire fighters.
