	Philippines: IRC Trains RAFI on Disaster, Emergency Response Management
	Cebu City: Aside from donating to the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), worldwide humanitarian organization International Rescue Committee (IRC) has also started training RAFI in terms of emergency and disaster response management.\r\nThe capacity building training focuses on emergency competencies, economic recovery programs, and team and stress management skills. Participants of the training program include those directly involved in the Super Typhoon Yolanda relief efforts.\r\nLast February, IRC also gave RAFI training on assessment and introductory module on emergency and disaster respons

	Manila: Survivors from a ferry that sank after encountering steering problems in the central Philippines said on September 21 that they were tossed about by the churning sea in darkness for six hours while praying and clinging to an overturned life raft before a passing ship rescued them.\r\n“A few more hours in those huge, huge waves and we could have all died,” said ferry passenger Romeo Cabag, a 32-year-old security guard who survived with his wife, Wilma. “I had cramps in both legs, was exhausted, and at one point I was beginning to pray that if I won’t make it, that God allow at least my wife to live.”

	Manila: Survivors from a ferry that sank after encountering steering problems in the central Philippines said on September 14 that they were tossed about by the churning sea in darkness for six hours while praying and clinging to an overturned life raft before a passing ship rescued them.\r\nRescuers, including the crew on two passing foreign vessels, plucked at least 110 survivors, including the Cabag couple, from the dangerously shifting waters. They recovered at least three bodies from the M/V Maharlika II, which listed and sank at nightfall on September 13, Red Cross aid worker Edward Barbero said.

	Philippines: DOH on Code White for Undas Starting October 31 Friday
	Hospitals and health development centers nationwide will be on Code White alert starting Friday, Oct. 31, for Undas (All Saints\' and All Souls\' Days), the Department of Health said on October 30 Thursday.\r\nState-run Philippine Information Agency said the Code White alert will be until Nov. 3, Monday, to prepare for any eventuality or health-related incident.\r\nActing DOH Secretary Janette Garin said a Code White Alert is declared \"when there is a mass gathering or national event and there is a possibility of emergency conditions that may need immediate medical attention.”

	Philippines: PRC conducts trainings in disaster emergency, home nursing trainings
	Agilipay, Quirino: To improve the health and living condition of the vulnerable people in priority upland barangays here, the Philippine Red Cross had carried out series of trainings on health in disaster and health education on ARI, UTI and hypertension in priority barangays here. Funded by the Japanese Red Cross Society, the trainings are part of the Community Health Care project in the province which was implemented from January 2008 to April 2014 in Alicia, Cabugao, Dumabel, Nagabgaban, Ramos, San Ramon, San Manuel, San Benigno and Diodol.\r\n \r\n \r\n
