India: More Post Offices to Offer Ambulance Parking


Chennai: More post offices in Chennai will offer space for parking of ambulances soon.The Department of Posts is tying up with more private and government hospitals to allow parking of the emergency vehicles on its premises.At present, the post offices in St. Thomas Mount, Anna Nagar, Ambattur and Tambaram allow ambulances to park on their premises.Soon, 18 more places, including head post offices, will provide space to ambulances for a rent.

India: PGI App to be used in all Hospital Emergencies


Chandigarh: Soon, government hospitals countrywide will enable faster consultation at emergencies. This will be possible by PGI GI liver app an Android and iOS-based application developed by Dr Usha Dutta from department of gastroenterology. After a successful development of the app five months ago, PGI had conducted a trial on its successful working. Based on this, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has asked PGI to extend its functioning for all other medical emergencies. India: Country Needs Emergency Medical Services Law: Experts


Vadodara: Emergency medical services (EMS) experts have called for immediate enactment of EMS law in the country. Experts from across the country discussed the issue at length on May 04 at the first Gujarat Emergency Medical Services Conference (GEMS) 2015 which was jointlyorganised by city-based Lifeline Foundation and Gujarat State Fertilizer Company Ltd (GSFC) with the support of the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health.\r\n\r\nPresently, Gujarat is the only state in the country which has EMS\' legal framework in place after it passed the Gujarat Emergency Medical Services Act, 2007

India: Soon, Call 1033 for Highway Emergency


Highway users may soon be able to call a 4-digit toll free number in case of an accident or emergency and expect immediate assistance. The ministry of road transport and highways is planning a call centre, which will alert the control centre of the respective highway section on receiving any call. Currently, the 4-digit universal access number, 1033, is functional only for a stretch between Mumbai and Ahmedabad of NH8 (Mumbai-Delhi national highway). Officials manning the call centre said the number was made operational in January.
