Qatar: Ambulance Service to Reach Out to Public for Feedback


Doha: In a new project to increase awareness, Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Ambulance Service will reach out to the public next year for feedback. Qatar: Ashghal Conducts Training for Evacuation and First-Aid


As part of its commitment to achieve Occupational Health and Safety standards and requirements in Qatar, the Public Works Authority established the “Safety Management System” which includes several initiatives that aim to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees in the authority. Qatar: Qatargas Conducts Emergency Exercise


Doha: The Qatargas Emergency Management and Security Services (EMSS) Department, in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Civil Defence, has conducted an unannounced emergency exercise to ensure the emergency preparedness of the company’s Doha head office.\r\nThe latest exercise tested emergency notifications, safety of staff within protected lobbies, phased evacuation of personnel who are at greater risk, effectiveness of the rescue operations and medical aid, according to a statement. Qatar: Qatar Airways Holds Emergency Response Drill


Doha: Qatar Airways (QA) conducted a planned emergency exercise in April to rehearse its emergency management programme and response functions.\r\nThe annual exercise is part of QA’s commitment to ensure its staff are prepared to handle an emergency situation in a timely and effective manner. The emergency exercise activated and deployed a number of the airline’s key crisis elements, including the QA Group Emergency Control Centre, Integrated Operations Centre, Deployed Response Group, Special Assistance Team and Media Enquiry Centre.

Qatar: QCRIs Technology Used by Emergency Responders in Ecuador


Technology developed by Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), one of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s 3 research institutes, has been used to provide information to local responders following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake which shook Ecuador on April 16.\r\nSocial media data collected and categorised with QCRI’s Artificial Intelligence for Disaster Response (AIDR) technology and MicroMappers can be used to provide insights following an emergency. MicroMappers is collaboration between the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) and the digital volunteer’s response agency, Standby Task Force (SBTF).
