India: Initiative to Beef-up Care for Heart Patients in TN


Chennai: For all the spectacular advances in cardiology, heart surgeons will still tell you that nothing determines the treatment outcome for a heart attack patient as much as the maxim “time is muscle”. In other words, survival rates of a heart attack are decided by how quickly a patient reaches a cardiac care hospital to arrest the extent of heart muscle damage. India: Science Centre to Train College Students in Disaster Mitigation


Coimbatore: The Regional Science Centre here is planning to train college students in disaster mitigation measures such as handling the fallout of flood, fire and building collapse. Apart from the coaching to apply first aid and removing victims to ambulances, the Centre would also bring in experts to explain the scientific reasons behind such calamities, how to avoid them and draw up contingency plans, T.M. India: Now, '108' Ambulance for Army Personnel


Lucknow: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on July 23 Tuesday issued directions to start the 108 ambulance service for Army officers, personnel as well as ex-servicemen and their family members. Currently, under the said service, a beneficiary is transported to the nearest community health centre or the government hospital. The service is being provided on the request made by the Army officials. India: GVK EMRI calls for End to Strike


Hyderabad: GVKEMRI requested its striking employees to call off their protest on July 23 Tuesday. Initiating fresh hiring, the institute said that it has managed to restore nearly 80% of the services. Full normalcy is expected in a couple of days, officials said at a press briefing on July 23 Tuesday. The 108 emergency service was paralyzed to a great extent in the state after nearly 4,000 employees went on strike demanding better wages and regularisation of their jobs. Protesting employees, who are drivers and paramedical staff, said that they started boycotting work from July 18 midnight.

Bhopal: Training in auxiliary trauma life support was imparted to reduce disability and deaths in road accidents by orthopedics department of Gandhi Medical College here on July25.
