Philippines: Emergency Responders Trained on Mountain Search and Rescue


Alfonso Lista: More than 20 emergency responders from various offices in this municipality were trained on mountain search and rescue recently. The 5-day event was conducted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) in coordination with the Ifugao Provincial Police Office (IPPO) who provided the trainers led by Police Inspector Jeffrey Vicente. Participants were trained on Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid, knot tying and management of rope, basic water search and rescue and other related topics. Philippines: ZRC Maritime Training Center Opens in Cebu, Accepts Enrollees


ZRC Training Center Philippines Inc. Cebu Branch is now accepting enrollees for seafarers coming from various shipping lines. Courses offered include Consolidated Maritime Pollution (MARPOL), Ship Security Officer (SSO), Medical First Aid (MEFA), and Seafarers with Designated Security Duties Security Awareness Training (SDSD-SAT). Philippines: DOH - NCR Strengthens Emergency Responsibility Capability of LGU's Through W.A.S.H. Training


Quezon City: The Department of Health – National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) recently started a week-long Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Training for the Sanitary Inspectors and WASH managers/practitioners of Metro Manila to strengthen and unify the existing emergency response system in the region in times of emergencies and disasters.  “This training aims to develop a standard among local government units in the establishment and maintenance of a synchronized coordination system in responding to emergency situations and ensuring a speedy, timely and effective response,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Philippines: SBMA Wins Search and Rescue Team Top Awards


Subic Bay, Zambales—The emergency rescue team of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has won top honor in the urban search and rescue (URBAN SAR) category of this years disaster management awards, officials said on October 23 Wednesday. SBMA Chairman Roberto Garcia said the SBMA Fire and Rescue Team has been chosen to receive the award for Best Government Emergency Response Management in the Gawad Kalasag of the National Disaster Coordinating Council. Philippines: Provincial Board: No More Shortage of Medicines in Hospitals


San Fernando: The Provincial Board's committee on health chaired by First District Board Member Crisostomo Garbo is making moves to assure that there would be no more shortage of drugs and life-saving medicines in Pampanga's district hospitals. Garbo, together with Board Members Rosve Henson and Ricardo Yabut, met with chief of hospitals led by Provincial Health Officer Mar Auchico, the Consignment Committee led by Benjie Yuson and pharmacists from government-run hospitals to pinpoint “loopholes” that result to shortage of medicines in the health facilities.
