Nepal: Snake Bite Victims Dying for Lack of ICU, Ventilators


Dhangadi: With no ICUs and ventilators at hospitals in the district, deaths from snake bite have been rising in Dhangadi. Most recently, 2 locals of Dhangadi, headquarters of the district, died while being taken for medical treatment. Nepal: Dealing with Snakebites, a Medical Emergency


Kathmandu: Snakebites are rampant in tropical areas and every year many people die of it. The Tarai region of Nepal is one of the endemic regions for snakebites. Due to increasing temperature and the monsoon, snakebites are seen in the Valley too. Therefore, Dr Niraj Bam, Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine at Tribhuwan University Teaching hospital (TUTH) discusses the symptoms and other issues related to snakebites. “Cobras, vipers (Hariyo), and krait are the snakes mostly found in Nepal and all of these are venomous. Every year many people die due to serpent attack. So, everyone must be cautious,” he said.

Nepal: 15-Bed Hospital Comes into Operation in Waling


Syangja: A 15-bed hospital has come into operation at Waling of Syangja district from July 21 Sunday. Hospital Management Committee Chairman Dhruba Prasad Sharma said the hospital will have 24-hour emergency service, besides separate lab for conducting different tests and the services of X-ray and minor surgery. The hospital has altogether 15 technicians including two medical officers, two staff nurses, two health assistants, and two lab technicians. The hospital will also provide services of specialists from Kathmandu and Pokhara each week.

Nepal: India Gifts 20 Ambulances, 4 Buses


Kathmandu: 20 ambulances and 4 buses were gifted on August 15 Thursday by the Government of India to various hospitals, non-profit organisations and educational institutions on the occasion of the 67th Independence Day of India. At a function held on the Indian Embassy premises in Kathmandu to mark Independence Day, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad unfurled the national flag of India.
