	Islamabad: The presence of several disaster management authorities at the federal level has resulted in overlapping of services and confusion as to who is responsible for what.Currently, there are 3 bodies working on disaster preparedness and management issues: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Network (NHEPRN) and the Emergency Relief Cell (ERC). 	Pakistan: Rescuers Trained in Dealing with Emergencies at Collapsed Building Sites Graduate
	Lahore: Training of 592 rescuers in the 18th batch of Rescue 1122 who graduated at a ceremony held on Saturday(August 08) included special courses on emergency medical response, search and rescue operations at collapsed building sites and community safety.\r\nThe cadets were also trained in fire fighting and rescuing people trapped in fire and other emergencies at multi-storey buildings.

	Pakistan: 40,000 Sign Petition to Award Nobel Peace to Edhi the Founder of World��s Largest Ambulance Service
	Lahore: A petition to award Abdul Sattar Edhi the Nobel Peace Prize has gathered close to 40,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.\r\nEdhi, probably the best known humanitarian in the country, is the founder of The Edhi Foundation which is the largest non-profit social welfare organization in the world. Founded back in 1951 from a single room in Karachi, the Foundation now has the world’s largest ambulance service and operates free nursing homes, orphanages, clinics, women’s shelters, food kitchens, and rehabilitation centers for drug addicts and mentally ill individuals all across the country, propakistani cited.

	Pakistan: Traffic Wardens to Get First Aid Training
	Rawalpindi: First Aid training for helping and rescuing people during any mishap on roads would be extended to the traffic police officers.\r\nThe training would help save the people after accidents and other emergency on roads. According to Assistant Manager Rifah Social Welfare Department, Muhammad Naseer, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), has been signed with City Traffic Police and Rifah International University Department of Social Welfare.

	Pakistan: PRC Launches Project in Shangla and Kohistan
	Peshawar: The Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, Tuesday (September 22) launched a community-based preparedness project in Shangla and Kohistan districts to educate the local community to respond effectively in case of emergency and calamities.\r\nThe project was launched in collaboration with the German Red Cross (GRC) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Germany.
