India: India Gifted 20 Ambulances to Nepal, Looking beyond
Kathmandu: On January 26 Sunday India gifted 20 ambulances and 4 buses to schools, hospitals and non-profit charitable organizations in Nepal as part of its 65th Republic Day celebrations. The same number of vehicles was donated during the previous Independence Day celebrations in August and also the previous Republic Day celebrations. This donation drive has been continuing for some years now. A video released by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on January 27 Monday in YouTube, to highlight India-Nepal partnership, mentions that till date 402 ambulances and 78 buses have been gifted to Nepal.

India: Ambulances Gear Up for Speed
Chennai: Ramshackle white vans with meek beacons have given way to four-wheel drive vehicles outfitted with flashing lights, wailing sirens and a range of medical equipment. To keep up with the rise in calls and ensure better first aid, ambulances are being loaded with gadgets and gear. The state government has ordered 78 four-wheel drive (4WD) vans to take medical help faster to people living in hilly regions. It will get 29 new neonatal ambulances, and has roped in IIT Madras to make modifications to the vehicles to increase efficiency, reduce vibration and improve the ride.

India: AIIMS Helipad Plan to Facilitate Air Ambulance Dropped
New Delhi: After waiting for a decade, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) will have to kiss goodbye its ambitious plan for a helipad atop one of its buildings. In 2007, the ministry of health and family welfare had proposed setting up a helipad on AIIMS' trauma centre building to promote medical tourism and to facilitate landing of air ambulance. However, the autonomous medical institution has failed to procure any of the multiple clearances, including from the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). India: Emergency Centre Opened at Railway Station
Madurai: A 24-hour free emergency medical assistance centre was inaugurated at theMadurai railway station, on January 30 Thursday. The emergency centre has been set up by city-based Vadamalayan Hospitals with life saving equipment.Madurai divisional railway manager, A K Rastogiinaugurated the centre in the presence of V Pugalagiri, chairman and managing director of Vadamalayan Hospitals. The division had earlier announced the opening of emergency medical centres in important railway stations in collaboration with interested hospitals in the locality.

India: Medical Help for Accident Victims Just a Call Away
Ranchi: With an aim to provide assistance victims in the city, the government is coming up with a new system that will ensure immediate medical help. Under the golden hour system, any witness to an accident can call up police control room on 100, 09651-2217100 or 0651-215855 and report about the accident. A register will be maintained in the control room which will have the contact number of the hospitals situated close to the site of the accident. The officer at police control room will call up the concerned hospital and an ambulance will be immediately sent to the spot.
