	Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Fire Brigade, popularly known as Juddha Barun Yantra, is planning to run ambulances in the capital. Officials at the brigade said they have submitted a proposal to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) seeking permission for running ambulance service. "We have submitted a proposal to KMC officials. They seemed positive toward our proposal," Kishor Kumar Bhattarai, chief of brigade, said. He said that the brigade´s proposal would not create extra burden on the metropolis, as it already has over two dozen advanced ambulances including hospital ambulances. 	Kathmandu: Agitating doctors at the Trbhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) have decided to tender mass resignation to Prime Minister-elect Sushil Koirala in support of Dr Govinda KC, who is on a fast-unto-death since February 8 Saturday. As per the statute of the Tribhuvan University, the prime minister of the country is the ex officio chancellor of the varsity. 	Nepal: Ambulance Drivers' Extortion
	Surkhet: Tek Bahadur Oli, a resident of Shantitole, Latikoili, was shocked to hear the response of an ambulance driver of the Regional Hospital, in Surkhet, February 13 night. When he made a call seeking emergency service to take his seriously ill kin to a nearby health facility, the driver refused saying it was night and it was not too far for him to take the patient to the hospital himself. The locals complain that though there are around a dozen ambulances, including governmental and non-governmental ones in the district, their services are not reliable. They charge exorbitantly, and if the drivers are not interested, they make excuses.

	Nepal: Paramedics Handle Bir Emergency
	Kathmandu: The emergency ward of Bir Hospital was without a single doctor for 12 hours on March 01 Saturday night. Two paramedics took charge of the ward from 9 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday as unit doctors and volunteers remained absent. The country’s oldest hospital is supposed to have two doctors and two paramedics on duty at all times.
