	Sri Lanka: Govt. to Establish an Emergency Ambulance Health Protection Service
	The government will set up an Emergency Ambulance Health Protection Service similar to a service carried out in India successfully to provide expeditious response in emergencies. According to the government, the health safety received within the first 30 minutes of an emergency is very important in order to save the life of persons who meet with accidents, a disaster or an emergency, to prevent sustaining further injuries, and to provide expeditious care.\r\nAt present such an Emergency Ambulance Health Protection Service is successfully being carried out in India.

	Sri Lanka: Intensive Care Units network-apps launches
	A network of state hospitals with ICU facilities have been established which is in operation from the Castle Street Maternity Hospital, with the objective of providing ICU facilities to all infants without delay. The program was launched on Wednesday (July 15) at the Family Health Bureau with the participation of Secretary of Health Ministry Dr D.M.R.B. Dissanayake and Director General of Health Services Dr Palitha Mahipala.

	Sri Lanka: Emergency and Accident Centre for Batticaloa Teaching Hospital
	An Emergency and Accident Centre will be established at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital at an estimated cost of Rs.807 million out of funds from the Government of Sri Lanka and a Foundation Supporting National Trauma Service in Sri Lanka.\r\nThe project addresses the urgent need to establish a three storied emergency and accident trauma complex accommodating up to 100 beds mainly with 06 operating theatres, Intensive Care Units to enhance the quality and capacity of the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital to cater for the increasing demands of Emergency and Accident Services of the Eastern Province.

	Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka Navy Builds an Ambulance Water Craft for People in Northern Islets
	Sri Lanka Navy on the request of Governor of the Northern Province has built an ambulance water craft for the benefit of the people living in the northern islands off the Jaffna peninsula. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Karunasena Hettiarachchi on Monday (October 05) handed over the Navy ambulance water craft to President Maithripala Sirisena at a ceremony in Kilinochchi.\r\nThe President in turn handed over the craft to the Director for Health Services of Northern Province who accepted the craft on behalf of the Governor of the Northern Province.

	Sri Lanka: Consumer Rights Group Urges Affordable Ambulance Service
	The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection (NMCRP) called for the establishment of an affordable ambulance service to be made available for paying patients. Chairman of the NMCRP, Ranjith Withanage said that transport costs at present were exorbitantly high.\r\nWhen someone falls and injures themselves, and are subsequently taken to the hospital in a 3-wheeler or a car, there is a high chance of them sustaining permanent damage to their spine due to the manner in which they are handled when being transported into and out of vehicles and to and fro, he noted.
