Philippines: PH formally opens 2018 Asia-Pacific quake response exercise meet


Manila: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) formally opened the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) 2018 Asia-Pacific Earthquake Response Exercise (ERE) at the Fontana Convention Center, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga on 26 June (Tuesday).

Philippines: Duque: Support Emergency Preparedness


Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on 2 July called on everyone to support and actively participate in disaster preparedness initiatives so they would know what to do in case of disaster or emergency, particularly Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).“It may mean life or death for you or your loved ones,” said Duque, adding this year, the Department of Health would focus on empowering everyone, in coordination with various groups, in performing the hands-only CPR.

Philippines: Ilocos Norte¡¯s Local Emergency Hotlines to Offer Free Calls


Laog City: The local emergency hotlines in Ilocos Norte will soon be offering free calls to the residents in case of emergencies. The Ilocos Norte Provincial Incident Response Management (PIRM) 911 launched in December 2016 as a centralized hotline ensuring rapid response to accidents and other emergencies.The hotlines, answered by trained personnel stationed at the provincial government hall, facilitate coordination with the Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office (INPPO) and other public safety agencies such as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and provincial hospitals.

Philippines: Mandatory CPR Training at School is reminded


Manila: Sen. Sonny Angara has the entire private and public schools in the country to include in their curriculum the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.Angara reminded Republic Act 10871, also known as \"Samboy Lim Law\" which he primarily promoted to educate students to save lives.According to Angara, anyone can save lives as long as there is enough knowledge. According to studies, a victim\'s survival rate is double when it is subject to CPR.

Philippines: Community Emergency Response Team Training in Davao Youth will be Held


Davao City - The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) is currently in the midst of conducting the City Wide Community Emergency Response Team Training for youth after the Sangguniang Kabataan.According to DRRMO Admin Officer & Training Director Lyndon Ancajas, last year\'s 2013 was implemented but was also due to the loss of SK. According to Ancajas, City-wide Community Emergency Response Team Training is held for 6 months.
