Qatar: Emergency Management Training Workshop Begins


The third emergency management training workshop under the aegis of the Permanent Committee for Emergency (PCE) Qatar and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was opened at the Sheraton Doha on February 16Sunday. The inaugural session was attended by Staff Maj Gen Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, Director-General of Public Security and Chairman of PCE Qatar; Nabil Othman, Regional Representative of UNHCR for GCC; and Dr Adnan al- Tamimi, Chairman of the Co-operation Council Centre for Emergency; along with officials from other departments.

Qatar: QRC to Train School Students in First Aid


Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) on March 05 announced ‘I am a paramedic’ programme, providing first aid training for students of 19 schools in Al Shamal in the northern region of Qatar. The programme, sponsored by Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme with QR1m, will start from the beginning of school year 2014-15, targeting students aged 10 to 17 year. “It will serve students in the northern region and follows on from a project launched by QRC in 2008-2009 that targeted 20 Independent schools in Qatar,” Rashid bin Saad Al Mohannadi, Director, QRC Al Khor Branch, told a press conference.

Qatar: Evacuation Drill Held in Dafna


The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) supervised an evacuation drill at the Qatar gas tower in Dafna on March 17 morning. The drill was conducted by the safety and security employees of the building. The proceedings started with a mock report on smoke detection on the 17th floor of the building, which was forwarded to the Operation Department and the Civil Defence Centre at Wadi Al-Sail.
