	Myanmar is home to some of the most venomous snakes in the world, a total of 39 known deadly species that include vipers, cobras and kraits. The Russell’s viper is responsible for most snakebite deaths in Myanmar, accounting for up to 80 percent of all fatalities. The symptoms of a Russell’s viper bite differ greatly to those of other snakes. There is prominent oozing of blood from the bite mark, with intense pain in the surrounding area. 	Burma (Myanmar): Myanmar Launches First National Crisis Management Centre
	Yangon: Myanmar has launched its first national crisis management centre in Nay Pyi Taw to help local authorities deal more effectively with emergencies, Xinhua news agency reports citing official media. The centre is run 24 hours and works together with the Asean Coordination Centre for Humanitarian Assistance and other crisis management centres from members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) in emergency situations.

	A bill that will see staff at government hospitals and clinics punished for failing to provide care to patients seeking emergency treatment was submitted to the Union Parliament on June 30 by a parliamentary panel that investigates judicial complaints.\r\nUnder the bill, the Department of Health as well as medical councils will punish staff at government hospitals and clinics who fail to provide emergency treatment, said Thura Aung Ko who chairs the panel.

	Yangon: Myanmar authorities have opened an emergency monitoring centre in Mandalay, the country\'s second largest city that was hit by sectarian riots early this month, to enable the public to report incidents, state media reported July 11.The emergency centre would coordinate with authorities concerned and carry out emergency tasks when such incidents take place, Xinhua reported citing the Mandalay Region Information and Public Relations. The emergency centre will remain opened 24 hours, especially to be effective during the curfew.
