United Arab Emirates: First Aid Training for Abu Dhabi Municipality Staff


Abu Dhabi: Municipality employees have been receiving first-aid training in partnership with Abu Dhabi Police. Members of staff were taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques and how to use a defibrillator during the sessions. The training is part of plans to improve the overall first-aid knowledge of workers and give them the ability to respond in an emergency situation.

United Arab Emirates: AUST Launches CPR Campaign


Ajman: Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST), as a reflection of its philosophy and mission, launched a campaign with the slogan “Wa-man-ahyaha” (whoever saves one’s life). The campaign is specialised in training high school students on the principles of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), an important skill necessary to rescue victims of sudden cardiac arrest. This campaign aims to increase the level of awareness among citizens, to encourage and equip them to step up to save lives, and to enhance the university’s bonds with the community at large.

United Arab Emirates: National Ambulance Company Builds 21 Stations across the UAE


The National Ambulance Company (NAC) has built 21 stations in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah. The locations of the new stations were selected based on the need to reduce response time. With phase one complete, phase two is due to get under way to build 10 more stations. According to state news agency Wam, the project covers all Northern Emirates through eight main locations and 21 sub-locations divided among them. All of the stations will operate 24 hours a day.

Dubai: Motorists approaching a road accident can be curious, to a point, but should be cautious and remember to quickly scan surroundings before driving past, a senior official at Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) said. Neil Kirby, DCAS director of operations, said it is important for motorists to slow down in the event of an accident but only in case there are people or obstructions on the road. United Arab Emirates: Rotavirus Vaccination Made Compulsory for all Babies in the UAE to Reduce ER Visits


Abu Dhabi: All babies will be vaccinated against a potentially deadly virus that causes gastroenteritis. It is a move that will reduce costly visits to hospital emergency rooms, experts say. The Ministry of Health, on April 30 Wednesday, announced that the rotavirus vaccine was to become part of the national immunisation schedule. Rotavirus causes diarrhoea, vomiting, severe dehydration, fever and even organ failure. The moves to make vaccinations mandatory follow a similar step by the Heath Authority Abu Dhabi (Haad) in June last year to make the vaccine part of its childhood immunisation schedule.
