	Malaysia: Emergency Help Now Available at Petron Stations
	Kuala Lumpur: Petron Malaysia has partnered with the police to provide safe spots at its petrol stations for the public to get assistance during emergencies like crime or accidents.The oil and company launched the “Go-To Safety Points” (GTSP) 12ft by 8ft installation art at selected Petron service stations in the Klang Valley, featuring caricature and messages like “Don’t panic, don’t worry, we’ll call, police will come”.

	Maldives: Army to establish paramedic contingent to respond Civil Emergencies
	The army is working on establishing a contingent of paramedics to respond to civil emergencies, army commander Major General Ahmed Shiyam said on May 22 Thursday. During the closing ceremony of the First Responders Training Programme conducted for soldiers and health ministry staff held at the Coast Guard Building, Shiyam said that the US-funded course is of great importance to the Maldives as it will improve the quality of services given by first responders. Shiyam also said that a ‘sea hospital’ is important for a Maldives which is made of several remote islands.

	Maldives: Talks Held with China to Obtain Sea Ambulances
	Chinese People’s Liberation Army, Sea Ambulance Team and Maldivian Defense Minister Mohamed Nazim, on 15 December, held discussions regarding the sea ambulances that are to be obtained with Chinese assistance.\r\nThe Chinese team was headed by Major General Cung Le, who is Special Commissioner of Foreign Affairs Office, Chinese Ministry of Defense.

	Nepal: Ambulance Drivers Shut Down Services in Siraha
	Lehan:The Sagarmatha Zonal Ambulance Drivers' Association has shutdown ambulance services in Siraha district on April 05,to protest the manhandling of ambulance driver, demanding action against the guilty. Around two dozen ambulances have been stopped at the main gate of the Ward Police Office, Lahan, at the call of the Association.Chairman of the Association, ShrawanMandal, said that the ambulances would be parked in front of the Office unless action against the guilty is taken. 	Nepal: Ill-equipped Ambulances a Threat to Patients
	Kathmandu: Health experts said on May 15 ”ambulances were being operated in the city without equipping them with basic life-saving facilities”. Dr Kulesh Thapa, ex-member of Nepal Ambulance Service, said ambulances were not equipped with pre-hospital emergency care system and victims of trauma or medical emergencies were being ferried to the hospital in cabs or in private vehicles. There are more than 700 medical emergencies reported in Kathmandu every day. “The consequences of using a taxi or an ill-equipped ambulance are serious,” said Dr Thapa. He added that many victims die on the way before reaching the hospital.
