India: Ambulance Service Taken Over


Thiruvananthapuram: GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (GVK-EMRI), Secunderabad, has taken over the 108 ambulance service in the city from October 16 Wednesday. They took over from Ziqitza Healthcare, which had been running the 108 ambulance service since 2006. When the Health Department decided not to extend the contract of Ziqitza, KSMSCL had invited short tenders from firms for operating the ambulance services here and in Alappuzha. India: Three Peripheral First Aid Centres Opened in Tiruchi


Three peripheral first aid centres were opened by the Indian Red Cross Society at Singarathope, Teppakulam, and Main Guard Gate in the city on October 22 Tuesday. The aim of the centres is to cater to the needs of people during emergencies triggered by crowds and traffic holdups and bursting of crackers during festival season. A total of 75 members of the District Disaster Response Team will work in shifts at the three centres. Volunteers from different hospitals and trainees of Red Cross Society will be part of the initiative, according to Edmund William, chairman, district disaster response team.

India: 108 Ambulances to be relocated to Strategic Locations during Diwali


  Jaipur: The 108 ambulances will be deployed at strategic locations to respond in least possible time to emergency calls during Diwali.  GVR EMRI, which is operating the 108 ambulances in the state under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), has decided to relocate seven ambulances from their usual locations to strategic locations to decrease the response time.  EMRI claimed that the planning of ambulance deployment is based on research on seasonal trends, pattern of emergencies and study of number of accidents in the last five years during the festival.
