Pakistan: Punjab Government Allocates Rs 2,150MN for Emergency Services


Lahore: The Punjab government has allocated an amount of Rs 2,150 million for the sector of Emergency Service in the budget 2016-17.\r\nAccording to the budget document, an amount of Rs 1,884 million will be spent on nine ongoing schemes of the sector and Rs 266 million has been allocated for eight new schemes, including strengthening of Emergency Service Academy in the city.

Pakistan: Emergency Preparedness: Policy Prepared for Induction of Rescue Cadets


Lahore: Rescue 1122 Director General Arshad Zia said on Saturday (June 18) that a policy framework had been finalised for induction of cadets into newly-formed Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams at divisional headquarters level.\r\nHe said the provincial government had decided to set up these teams for all nine divisional headquarters of the province. He said training was already under way for Rawalpindi and Lahore teams. He said the process of setting up all nine teams would be completed by the end of 2018.

Pakistan: Shehbaz Strengthens Punjab Emergency Services


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has strengthened the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) by approving establishment of 9 divisional Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) teams and Rescue 1122 in 62 tehsils of Punjab in the current fiscal year.\r\nThe Punjab home secretary notified a committee to purchase latest machinery and equipment for the USAR teams in Lahore and Rawalpindi. Deputy Director (Finance) Rescue 1122 Naeem Mukhtar has been entrusted the additional responsibility till June 2016, as deputy director (procurement) in order to complete the project well in time.

Pakistan: Doctor will have to Attend Duty Zehri


Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri on Wednesday (June 22) said that doctors would be made bound to attend duty at state-run hospitals. While inaugurating Medical ICU at Civil Hospital here, he said that patients would be served when doctors attend their duties.\r\nHe said: \"Government has been spending huge money to provide basic civic amenities to masses including health care,\" adding that the doctors would have to ensure their attendance at their work place. He said that strategy would be devised for ensuring attendance of doctors at state-run hospitals.

Pakistan: Emergency Arrangements Finalised for Eid


Lahore: Emergency ambulance, rescue and fire services of Rescue-1122 shall remain operational and on high alert during Eid holidays in all districts of Punjab to provide emergency cover to the citizens in case of any emergency.\r\nPunjab Rescue DG Brig (r) Dr Arshad Zia presided over a meeting to review the arrangements taken in this regard at Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Monday (June 27). The Provincial Monitoring Cell briefed the director general that emergency plans for Eid have been finalised in all districts of the province in close coordination with district administrations.
