India: Rescue Drill Springs a Surprise on Residents in Kerala


News about a few coaches of a train falling into a waterbody in Ernakulam spread through the city on Saturday(October 17) morning as a mock underwater rescue and relief drill was conducted near Kaniampuzha Bridge, Vyttila.\r\nForty two personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the accident-relief team of the Southern Railway, personnel of Fire and Rescue Service, the police and ambulance services took part in the drill. An old coach was partially immersed in the waterbody beneath the bridge by a heavy-duty crane. In it were a few dummies in the shape of human beings.

India: Ghaziabad Hospital Trains Residents in First Aid


Ghaziabad: A private hospital in the city has initiated a novel drive, \'Good Samaritans\', to train RWA members, ambulance drivers and cops in emergency response and in administering first aid in the event of accidents.\r\nDr Rahul Bansal, HoD of the hospital\'s emergency medicine department, said the time lost during a medical emergency resulted in loss of life. \"On the eve of World Trauma Day we have come up with the idea of training people from a non-medical background to respond in a medical emergency,\" Bansal said.

India: Uttar Pradesh to Get 500 more Ambulances under 108 Service


Meerut: To ensure speedy medical care during emergencies, the government has decided to add 500 more ambulances to the existing fleet of 988 vehicles under the 108 ambulance service in the state.\r\nUP chief secretary Arvind Kumar has issued a government order (GO) to the director general (health and medical services) in this regard.

India: Training institute for paramedic and allied staff inaugurated


To train paramedics, doctors and medical professionals by another extra mile, in association with the Central government’s Skill Development Corporation, Apollo Hospitals has come up with ‘Medskills Smart Center’ in the city. The training center was formally inaugurated by Managing Director of Dr Ramesh, Cardiac and Multi-specialty Centre, Dr P Ramesh Babu on Friday (October 16).\r\nDr Ramesh Managing Director cutthe ribbon to mark the inauguration of Cardiac and Multi specialty Centre.

India: Dedicated Lane Plan for Emergency Vehicles


Delhi: At present, lanes on the extreme right on any road are considered as disaster management lanes. According to the law, motorists are required to make way for an emergency vehicle on hearing the siren. However, that rarely happens because of the traffic chaos that reigns in the city.\r\nIn view of the current circumstances, the Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi, before retiring next February, has directed the traffic police to get going with a project that would ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles providing emergency services.
