India: Dial 108, One of 161 Ambulances Promises to Reach You in 20 Minutes


Mumbai: The facility for free ambulances under the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was flagged off by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on March 01 Saturday at Marine Drive. Of 937 ambulances that will cater to urban and rural population, 161 ambulances were launched on March 01 Saturday. Chavan said, “The 108 ambulance service will aim to reach patients within 20 minutes after the call is made. India: Soon, another Emergency Care Centre near Red Hills in Tamil Nadu


Chennai: Following the success of the emergency care centre set up at Chrompet last year, the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project along with Emergency Management Research Institute will soon launch another centre at Padianallur near Redhills to cater to people in the North zone of the city. India: Nagaland gets its Emergency Operation Centre


Kohima: Nagaland got the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) on March 03, which will be the nerve of the state's Disaster Management Authority.  Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on March 03 inaugurated the SEOC at the Old Assembly Secretariat complex. The SEOC'S role is to provide a central location from which the government at any level can provide inter-agency coordination and prompt executive decision making for effective incident response.

India: Rapid Response Medi-bikes to Hit Aizawl Soon in Mizoram


Aizwal: Dealing with emergencies has always been a nightmare in Aizawl given its hilly topography and narrow roads. But now the government has come out with a solution to respond to emergencies promptly.  The outgoing director of the state National Health Mission, Dr Gordon Zohmingthanga, has hit upon the idea of introducing "medi-bikes" which can ferry patients faster than the conventional ambulances. The project has been approved by the Union health ministry and six units of medi-bikes will soon be visible in Aizwal. Mizoram will be the first to introduce this service in the country.
