India: Traffic Police Launch Ambulance Service of Amritsar


As many as 50 per cent lives can be saved in road accidents if victims are admitted to a hospital within one hour of the mishap. India: Railway Emergency Unit to be opened in Kerala


Thiruvananthapuram: The first railway emergency unit in the State as part of Indian Railway’s emergency medical service project will be opened at the Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station. Railway Divisional Manager Sunil Bajpai will inaugurate the unit, which has been set up by the emergency department of PRS Hospital, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (March 30).\r\nThe unit will be handling all medical emergencies of railway passengers. The unit, which has all the necessary equipment and medical supply, will have qualified paramedical staff.

India: Govt Planning Water Ambulance Service between Gateway and Alibaug


Mumbai: The state government on Friday (2 April) said it is planning a water ambulance service between the Gateway of India in south Mumbai and Alibaug in neighbouring Raigad district.\r\nReplying to a debate in the Legislative Council on health-related issues raised by Shiv Sena’s Neelam Gorhe and others, Minister for Public Health Deepak Sawant said the water ambulance service has been started on trial basis in the Nar-Par river basin on Gujarat border. “The project can be replicated at Tapola Lake in Mahabaleshwar and Pranhita river bordering Andhra Pradesh,” he added.

India: Docs to Undergo Internship in Emergency Situations


New Delhi: Doctors vie for acquiring specialty and super specialty but they never learn the basic norms to be followed in the emergency situations as to care to be taken while transferring patients to hospital.\r\nThis realisation has prompted the Health Ministry to make it mandatory for all MBBS students to undergo internship for learning the emergency and trauma skills, according to Dr Jagdish Prasad, Director General of Health Services.

India: State Govt to Launch Single Toll-Free Number for all Ambulance Services


Jaipur: The state government is planning to launch Integrated Ambulance Service Concept. It will enable a caller to dial a single number from anywhere in Rajasthan in case of emergency for ambulances. The service of emergency will provide transport either through 108 or 104, a single centralised call centre.\r\nEven the emergencies related to the police and fire will also be reported on the same number. Under the new concept, the health department will develop a strong monitoring system to ensure that all valid call cases should not be left unattended and corresponding services should be made available.
