India: Ambulance Rate Fixed for 34 Regions Across Maharashtra


Mumbai: People across Maharashtra can now hire an ambulance, state-run or private, at a fixed tariff, thanks to the persistent efforts of an activist from Thane. The transport commissioner’s office recently released a rate card that will be applicable in 34 out of the state’s 48 regions. Mumbaikars, however, will have to wait longer for this as the city is among the remaining 14 regions where a standard rate hasn’t been fixed yet. India: Kochi Action for Road Safety and Medical Aid to the Rescue of Accident Victims in Kochi


Kochi: Citizens can now heave a sigh of relief since a new initiative is being launched to rush accident victims to hospitals in Kochi. District administration and motor vehicles department (MVD) will join hands to form Kochi Action for Road Safety and Medical Aid (KARMA), a charitable society, for this purpose. New Delhi: The Government provides financial support to States/UTs under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for strengthening their health systems including for emergency medical transport of patients based on the requirement posed by the State/UTs in their Programme Implementation Plans.
