India: Stanley to Bring all Emergency Services under One Roof in a Week


Chennai: Patients in emergency taken to Stanley Medical College and Hospital need no longer be moved to different buildings, wasting a chunk of the golden hour. The hospital has planned to bring all its emergency services under one roof. A multi-storey building for emergency cases will be inaugurated within a week.  By bringing all intensive care units and emergency services in one place, the hospital aims to have better co-ordination among doctors, nurses and paramedics who deal with cases like casualties, stroke and heart attacks, said a senior doctor at the hospital.

India: 108 Ambulance Workers Call One-Day State-Wide Strike on Jan 8 - Tamil Nadu


Madurai: Around 3,000 personnel of the 108Ambulance Workers Union has decided to go on a 1-day token strike across the state early next month in protest against authorities ignoring their long-pending demands. India: Neonatal Ambulance for Trichy


Trichy: Emergency healthcare in Trichy got a boost with ambulances allotted for new-borns and the remote Pachaimalai on December 30 Monday. While neonatal ambulance is meant for providing emergency medical care to infants across the district, the 108 ambulance for Pachaimalai, near Thuraiyur, will be a boon for tribals residing on the hill villages.  Trichy district collector Jayashree Muralidharan flagged off the ambulances in the presence of Dr R Vallinayagam, dean of MGMGH, at the collectorate on December 30 Monday.

India: Paramedical Institutes of Excellence Coming


Vellore: The Centre has decided to establish a national paramedical institute of excellence in New Delhi and eight regional institutes to meet the demand for human resource, Health Minister said on January 10 Friday. The regional institutes would come up at the rate of one for 3 States. One of them would be established in Coimbatore to serve Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, Mr. Azad said talking to reporters on the side-lines of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Dr. Ida B. Scudder Cancer Centre at the Christian Medical College here.

India: Kashmir's Rural Areas to get 800 GPS-Fitted Ambulances


Srinagar: Around 800 ambulances fitted with global positioning system (GPS) would be made available for patients in rural areas in Jammu and Kashmir, the state government said on January 12 Sunday. People in rural areas would only need to dial the toll-free number 102 to avail ambulance services fitted with GPS under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan said. The aim of the service was to provide timely health care during emergencies like accidents, with the focus on maternal and child health, he said.
