India: Mega Earthquake Mock Drill Held Successfully in Aizawl


Aizawl: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India and Mizoram State Disaster Management Authority, on March 13 yesterday, organised the second phase of mega mock drill involving five North Eastern states at several places in Aizawl. Several government departments, NGOs, schools and hospitals took part in the exercise and rendered their service as well. India: Heart Attack Symptoms Are Often Misdiagnosed As Anxiety in Women


Women are more likely to die of heart attacks because their symptoms are often misdiagnosed as anxiety so they do not get vital swift treatment, said a study on March 17 Monday. Researchers at McGill University in Montreal set out to understand sex differences in mortality rates for men and women with acute coronary syndrome. They asked 1,123 patients aged 18 to 55 to fill out a survey after being admitted to one of 24 hospitals in Canada, one in the United States and one in Switzerland.

India: Mock Drill Held near Tirunelveli


Madurai: The Madurai Division of Southern Railway conducted the annual mock drill at Thaazhaiyooththu near here on March 25 Tuesday to check the preparedness of its men in case of a train accident, rescue of victims and speedy restoration of rail traffic in the affected section. Over 100 personnel including medical and paramedical staff and a 140-tonne crane, ‘Pandyan,’ brought from Madurai for this exercise, were involved in the drill under the supervision of A.K. India: Revolutionizing Healthcare in Kashmir- Forthcoming Project on EMS


In the previous column I wrote about innovations and reforms introduced by the K-RICH team of the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir. This column will detail some forthcoming projects which are pending approval and two proposals that have the potential to revolutionise healthcare delivery in Kashmir.
