United Arab Emirates: Abu Dhabi to get Certified Lifeguards


Abu Dhabi:Lifeguards who meet the certification requirements of the QCC through practical assessments will receive the certificate of conformity. Abu Dhabi has developed a certification scheme for lifeguards to enhance pool rescue and first aid services in the emirate. The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) developed the scheme in collaboration with public and private sector stakeholders in the leisure industry.\r\nLifeguards who meet the certification requirements of the QCC through practical assessments will receive the certificate of conformity that indicates their competence and credentials.

United Arab Emirates: MoH Gears Up to Treat Heatstroke Patients


Anticipating high temperatures during the Haj season, the Ministry of Health has made arrangements to install more equipment to treat heatstroke patients among pilgrims, Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Al-Mirghalani said following a meeting of the Haj preparatory committee here on Monday(August 03).He said there are 4 hospitals each in Arafat and Mina, which will treat heatstroke patients.\r\nThe ministry recruits more than 22,000 people from various medical, technical, administrative categories for the Haj season every year. United Arab Emirates: Dubai Health Authority forms Emergencies and Disasters Committee


Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority has formed a central emergencies and disasters committee which will develop processes, policies and procedures to effectively tackle disasters. The multi-disciplinary committee will be headed by Dr Zeyad Al Rais, head of intensive care section at Rashid Hospital.\r\nHumaid Al Qatami, the chairman of the board at DHA said the team will prepare internal emergency and disaster plans for the DHA’s hospitals and healthcare centres. In addition, they will also prepare an emergency plan for epidemic and infectious diseases.

United Arab Emirates: RAK Hospital Launches Free Emergency Ambulance Service


Ras Al Khaimah: RAK Hospital has launched a free emergency ambulance service to support people with emergency medical needs. The service is particularly specific to severe emergency cases, such as strokes and serious orthopaedic injuries that require timely medical attention. The ambulances are fully equipped with emergency equipment that includes monitors, oxygen, syringe pumps and ventilators to provide efficient first-aid to give instant relief to patients. United Arab Emirates: Residents Urged to Become First-aid Volunteers


Dubai: Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) has called on residents to become certified first-aid volunteers in case they are faced with an emergency situation that requires immediate assistance.\r\nThe corporation has long opened its doors for residents to apply for their first-aid training programme which provides a full week of training, including a certification card that legally allows them to rush to the aid of people anywhere at any time before the ambulance and paramedics arrive.
