Singapore: Singapore Launches e-Platform for Mental Health First Aiders


Singapore: Singapore\'s Temasek Foundation Cares and Changi General Hospital on Saturday (20 May) jointly launched an electronic platform that teaches community leaders and volunteers mental health first aid, the Channel NewsAsia reported.\r\nThe e-platform, called Project e-Learning Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), combines online modules with a face-to-face practicum, helping to shorten onsite learning from the 2 days its standard course currently requires to just half a day.

Singapore: SAF Medics to Work in SCDF Ambulances in Pilot Tie-Up


Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) medics will be deployed in Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) ambulances in a 3-month pilot from September to keep their skills current and to help beef up emergency responses.\r\nThe project aims to meet the growing demand in calls for ambulances and emergency treatments, which are expected to increase 6 per cent annually in the light of Singapore\'s ageing population, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said on 23 May.

Singapore: NSF Medics Fully Qualified as Emergency Medical Technicians


The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fully agree with Mr Edwin Pang that SAF medics attached to the SCDF ambulances must be well-trained and able to handle emergencies (Ensure NSF medics are trained to handle emergencies; May 26).\r\nFull-time national servicemen (NSFs) are already an integral part of the SCDF\'s Emergency Medical Service (EMS) teams. The NSFs work alongside regular paramedics to attend to EMS cases, including critical emergencies. Currently, at least one member of each three-man EMS team in an SCDF ambulance is an NSF.

Singapore: Health Ministry Distributes Card that Guides Emergency Chest Compressions


Singapore: Even those trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) may be apprehensive about responding to an emergency, but there is now a tool that can help.\r\nThe CPR-card - the size and thickness of a credit card - is placed on a person\'s chest during CPR. It can alert a rescuer if they are performing chest compressions too quickly or deeply, and allow them to adjust the pace on the spot.

Singapore: Volunteers Test Evacuation Procedures on Upcoming Downtown Line 3


Singapore: About 200 members of the public got a chance to experience how train evacuation procedures are like on the Downtown Line 3 (DTL3) on Saturday (16 September).\r\nThe event is the first of a series of community engagement sessions organised by SBS Transit, giving visitors a glimpse into safety and emergency measures, as well as a sneak peek into some of its 16 stations ahead of the line\'s opening on 21 October.
