Emergency services are being improved in the Northern Emirates so that patients in remote areas suffering life-threatening conditions can receive faster treatment.\r\nThe National Ambulance Service is modernising its vehicle fleet with 20 new Mercedes ambulances to supplement the 24 it already operates. The number of rapid response cars will increase from 30 to 50, and 20 additional service locations are being introduced, taking the number within the region to 50.

United Arab Emirates: Doctor-less Emergency Rooms Become Reality


Health specialists in Dubai will soon be able to attend to patients remotely as Dubai Health Authority (DHA) launches the pilot phase of its first telehealth project.\r\nThe RoboDoc, that was first introduced in September last year at Hatta Hospital, promises to cut down on waiting times while allowing doctors to operate even when away from emergency rooms and will be introduced in the second phase. The doctor-on-wheels has already saved a few lives that could have been at risk if precious time was spent on transporting the patients from remote areas to Dubai for treatment.
