	China: Shanghai: Local Red Cross is Installing Automatic External Defibrillators at Universities to Deal with Emergencies
	A training program to teach people how to use the defibrillator was launched at Shanghai Jiaotong University yesterday (September 21). Jiaotong has installed 85 AEDs on its campus, the first university with wide installation of AEDs in the nation. AED can greatly improve the survival chances if used within four minutes on people suffering cardiac arrest.

	China: China Launches Emergency Measures for Megi
	The headquarters urged local authorities to take precautions and dispatched five work teams to the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Hunan to prepare aid and relief.\r\nTyphoon Megi, the 17th typhoon this year, is expected to make landfall in Taiwan Tuesday (27 Sept) afternoon and move to the coastal areas of Fujian and Guangdong on Wednesday morning, according to a statement from the headquarters. The regions in Megi\'s path have only just been hit by Meranti and Malakas, the 14th and 16th typhoons of this year, making disaster response and relief work more difficult, the statement said.

	China: Around the World of EMS: AHA to Offer CPR, AED Training in China
	Beijing: More people in China will soon be able to learn to give CPR, use an automated external defibrillator and deliver first aid by taking American Heart Association training.\r\nThe Chinese public will be able to learn the life-saving skills through the AHA’s first international training center in Beijing to serve this population, according to an announcement made Thursday by the China Social Assistance Foundation and AHA at the 27th International Great Wall Conference on Cardiology in Beijing.

	China: Shanghai��s Would-Be Samaritans Welcome Legal Protection
	Buried among the 66 clauses of the “Shanghai Municipal Regulations for First-Aid,” which was approved in July by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee, is the guarantee that those who carry out “on-the-spot emergency care will enjoy legal protection.” Even those who inadvertently cause harm to the injured party “will not bear any legal responsibility,” the regulations state. The new regulations appear to apply to all individuals, in contrast to an earlier draft that stated only those with medical training would benefit from legal protection.
