China: China Releases Latest Bird Flu Data-Ended Emergency Outbreak


131 cases of H7N9 bird flu have now been reported on the Chinese mainland, 39 of which were fatal. The latest figures were released on Sunday by Chinese health authorities. 78 sufferers have been successfully discharged from hospital, after receiving treatment. 14 patients remain in hospital, according to the National Health and Family Planning Commission. The latest report says the cases of H7N9 are isolated and there's been no sign of human-to-human transmission. Seven provincial regions, including Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, have now ended their emergency response to the outbreak. The commission will continue to update information on H7

China: China's First NBC Maritime Emergency Rescue Team Conducts Training


China's first maritime NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) emergency rescue team under a submarine base of the North Sea Fleet of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted training in a sea area. The training subjects included real-time monitoring, sample collection and analysis and contaminated areas delineation. The training verified the maximum performance of the new equipment under the actual-combat conditions and significantly improved troops' emergency rescue capabilities.

Muara Port, Brunei: The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy hospital ship "Peace Ark" arrived at Muara port, Brunei on June 16 afternoon to make a port call and participate in the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) and Military Medicine (MM) Exercise.The "Peace Ark" will provide free medical checkups for members of the public on June 17 Monday morning.
