Thailand: Phuket to Hold Disaster Drill on 25-26 June


Phuket: Provincial authorities in Phuket convened on May 27 for a meeting to prepare an emergency response drill in case of earthquake, evacuation of residents and management of temporary shelters. Acting Sub Lt Trakul said that the exercise was conducted annually in order to improve information management and the directing and coordinating system in disaster situation. Bangkok: A  2-year-old boy wearing a rescue volunteer uniform is a regular sight among fellow rescuers in Sri Racha.\r\n\"Bhum,\" the youngest rescue volunteer of Yiang Tai Sri Racha foundation, learns valuable lessons on how to help humanity when he joins his rescue volunteer parents as they work. His parents, Prajuab and Roongnapa Sangansue, said they have been volunteers for almost four years, and ever since Bhum was one, he has joined them at the foundation to learn what his parents do.

Thailand: Tsunami Drill in Phuket Town this Weekend


Phuket: Residents and tourists have been urged not to panic if they hear the tsunami-warning evacuation sirens at Saphan Hin this Saturday morning (September 5) as disaster officials will be staging a mass evacuation drill in the area.\r\nThe drill is being staged to help residents to be prepared in case a disaster, such as a tsunami or a major earthquake, strikes, he added.Residents, business owners and other people in high-risk areas will be asked to relocate to an emergency assembly area set up at Chai Field, located opposite Phuket Provincial Hall.

Thailand: Emergency Drill at Phuket Airport Sept 10


Phuket: Phuket airport will conduct a full-scale emergency drill on Thursday(September 10) to help reduce loss of life and damage in the event of an aircraft accident. Airport director Monruedee Ketphan said on Tuesday(September 08) that aircraftaccidents in the past had caused serious damage, both direct and indirect, to the aircraft and passengers.\r\nEmergency drills were essentialto ensure rescue teams reacted swiftly and appropriately to reduce possible injuries, loss of life and damage to the aircraft.
