Thailand: Samui Hospital to Open Emergency Medical Centres at Tourist Attractions


Surat Thani: KoSamui Hospital will be setting up emergency medical centres at marine tourism attractions throughout the island, to provide swift response services to emergency situations that may arise.\r\nKoSamui Hospital Director TheerasakWiriyanon has revealed that the hospital is ready to become a leading emergency medical service provider in marine tourism areas, providing better services to patients and tourists who could be affected from incidents at sea.

Thailand: NLA Eyes Overhaul of Emergency Response System


Bangkok: The National Legislative Assembly is considering overhauling laws governing the country’s emergency medical-response system following criticism that a hospital was slow to send an ambulance to pick up late former Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa.\r\nNLA vice-president Surachai Liangboonlertchai said on Tuesday (3 May)  that a committee met with representatives from six private organisations representing the medical, media and transport sectors to discuss challenges in providing timely emergency response and how to make it more efficient.

Thailand: More Emergency Services to be provided in Bangkok


Bangkok: The Ministry of Public Health is developing a medical emergency system with the Office of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to respond to emergency situations within 10 minutes.\r\nPermanent Secretary to the Ministry of Public Health Dr Sophon Mekthanon, said on 3 May “the system is aimed at providing a timely arrival at callers’ locations via the hotlines 1669 and 1646, adopting new technology to help paramedics identify where the callers are and ensuring a comfortable trip to and from the hospital for patients needing emergency treatment. “

Thailand: Cabinet Passes Sanatorium Act Improving Healthcare Facilities Quality


Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved a new Sanatorium Act, aiming to enhance services at public healthcare facilities to be on par with private hospitals, according to a spokesman.\r\nThe new Sanatorium Act also limits advertising of healthcare facilities, and determine types of emergency illness which healthcare facilities cannot decline services. The details on these matters will be specified in subsequent laws.

Thailand: Emergency Response Plans needed for all Schools


Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has emphasised that all agencies must learn a lesson from the tragic fire that killed 17 girls at a school dormitory in Chiang Rai province. \"It\'s necessary that agencies prepare emergency response plans,\" the prime minister said on 24 May. Prayut spoke up in the wake of the heartbreaking blaze that struck the girls-only dormitory of a charity school Sunday night.
