Mumbai: Emergency-related vehicles, such as fire brigade and ambulances, and cars with sirens and multi-tone horns, will now have to operate silently between 10 pm and 6 am, according to a notification issued by the Maharashtra government on June 07.
Worli resident and senior citizen Dileep B Nevatia had alleged that vehicle owners and drivers frequently violated the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. |
