Thiruvananthapuram: Oil companies have been asked to station four more Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) in the state to tackle disasters involving oil tanker lorries, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash informed the Assembly on February 04 Tuesday. This decision was taken at a high-level meeting held after the oil tanker accident in Kannur last month.
“It is the responsibility of the oil companies to provide the vehicles as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. We have asked them to provide four more ERVs,’’ the Minister said.
The new vehicles, along with the ERVs already available in the state, will be positioned in various districts to aid prompt disaster management, he said. |
